Patrick Suen is the founder and head instructor of Tokushikai Canada and has been practicing martial arts for 20 years. He serves on the Canadian Kendo Federation’s Board of Directors (2014-present), and has the appointed position of national secretary. 

Patrick has been an active contributor to the Canadian and International Iaido community, having founded many events and initiatives, including the:

• CDN National Championships (2013)

• Pan-Am Championships (2018, 2024)

• CKF Womens’ Iaido Seminar (2019, 2016)

• Team Canada Iaido (2018 - Present)

• Tokushikai Inside Look Podcast (2020)

• Ottawa Kyudo Association (2021)

Patrick is a 13-time medalist in competition within the Americas, with 6 x Gold, 4 x Silver, and 3 x Bronze over the past 10 years — most recently achieving Gold in the 6-Dan division at the 2024 Pan-American Iaido Championships in Vancouver.

In Canadian national competitions, Patrick has earned 3 x Gold, 6 x Silver, and 2 x Bronze in individual and team competitions.
